Mindfulness in Pregnancy
PREGNANT? CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING THE BLUES?
If you are pregnant and have felt down or depressed at any point in your life, you may be eligible to participate in a paid research study (up to $50) of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Pregnant Women.
The research study includes eight weekly two-hour classes.
During this study we will collect information about your moods, thoughts, and daily activities.
In the classes you will be invited to:
- Learn mindfulness and gentle yoga stretching practices
- Learn to become more aware of thoughts and actions that increase the risk of depression and learn ways to respond to these thoughts and actions.
- Learn practical information about depression, including warning signs of depression, and how you can prevent depression and manage stress during pregnancy and after your baby is born.
To participate in this study you must be between the ages of 21 and 45, less than 6 months pregnant, and have a low risk pregnancy.
Classes held either Mondays 5:30-7:30pm or Tuesdays 1:20-3:30pm at the University of Colorado Boulder (Free easy parking!)
